A new future shaped by the circular economy
Being a pioneer requires taking bold steps towards something new while valuing the wisdom gained from experience. Päivi Pälve, who began her role as Syklo’s new customer relations representative in September, had a long career at Turveruukki. Her new role, immersed in the modern circular economy and recycled materials, feels like an inspiring new chapter in her life.
Päivi’s new workdays in Rusko, Oulu, start early in the morning. She begins her day by reviewing the load reports from the Rusko waste sorting plant and the Laanila ecopower plant from the previous day. She checks how much waste has been received, ensures the waste loads have been accurately weighed, and verifies that they have been properly entered into the system.
As many as hundreds of loads per day require inspection
“I am surprised at how much waste is produced and how many ways waste materials can be both sorted and recycled. The circular economy is an industry of the future, which is why it is exciting to be part of Syklo’s team in creating a better future for generations to come,” Päivi shares.
The days continue with various tasks that require attention to detail. The work involves a wide range of tasks, including load management system maintenance, reporting, archiving, invoicing, communication with customers regarding operational matters, and monitoring. For example, she can review events and situations where the waste load entry is unclear by checking the footage from the vehicle scale camera.
Cycling her strengths
The last time Päivi Pälve started a new job at Turveruukki was an impressive 34 years ago. The years were spent pleasantly working as an accounting secretary handling various tasks, such as self-invoicing for peat entrepreneurs, production and delivery contracts, and sales invoicing.
“In my previous job, which I started at the age of 21, I had time to learn a lot about systems, which is now also useful with Syklo. However, my current work is considerably more comprehensive. Everything has changed for the positive!”
The experience adds balance to a young, growing team
Pälve believes that her calm and straightforward nature brings balance to the young and growth-driven circular economy community.
“Syklo’s work community is a highly innovative and energetic team, from which I can also draw energy for myself. I still have a lot of career ahead of me, so this feels like a new opportunity and a fresh future.”
